Buckles and Rings Inspection SOP
This page explains how to inspect rings and buckles before packing. The inspection covers appearance, dimensions, movement and protection from sharp edges. If a defect is found, first separate the affected batch, then assess it against the approved drawing and sample.
Find a problem and contain it first
Section titled “Find a problem and contain it first”Hold the lot, mark the batch and quantity, and separate the suspect parts. Record the visible problem before taking measurements or repeating the functional check.
Appearance and dimensions
Section titled “Appearance and dimensions”Check colour consistency between matching parts and between front and back surfaces. Reject parts showing oxidation, blistering, exposed undercoat, pitting, rack marks, misalignment or burrs. Measure the wire diameter, inner and outer dimensions and critical buckle geometry against the approved drawing and sample.
Function
Section titled “Function”Open spring rings repeatedly to confirm smooth movement, adequate return and no excessive tightness or looseness. For pin buckles, check the pin length, bend position, retention and risk of sharp edges.
Packaging
Section titled “Packaging”Individually bag small parts that can scratch one another. Apply protective film or cushioning to logo areas and large polished surfaces when specified. Confirm product type, quantity and packing condition before release.
