Metal Stamping
Metal stamping uses a press and matched tooling to cut, pierce, form or draw sheet brass, iron or steel. It is used for backing plates, prongs and other sheet-metal components where repeatable outline, holes and formed features are required.
From sheet to component
Section titled “From sheet to component”The die controls the blanked outline, hole positions, bends and formed height. Material thickness, temper, grain direction, burr side and tool clearance should be defined on the product drawing. A component that will receive a visible surface finish may require tighter control of cut edges and press marks.
Approve the formed result
Section titled “Approve the formed result”Check the profile, holes, formed height, flatness, cracks and edge condition. Review the mating material and installation tool together with the stamped part, because a correctly made component can still fail if its prongs, backing plate or setting force do not suit the final assembly.
